Diabetes Symptoms

Diabetes often goes undiagnosed because its symptoms are usually ignored. Often we get sick but ignore the symptoms we may be feeling, shrugging them off to a cold, stress from work, or just not feeling well.

Symptoms of type 1 diabetes often come on suddenly and are severely dramatic. The extra stress of diabetes can lead to something called diabetic ketoacidosis. Symptoms of ketoacidosis may include nausea and vomiting, which may also lead to dehydration and serious problems with the blood levels of potassium. This could lead to a diabetic coma and ultimately death.

Apart from the symptoms that were mentioned already, there are other symptoms that you may want to be watching for. While the symptoms that have been mentioned already are the most common, here are some other ones that may be present, as well, or instead of the other ones if diabetes is present. Prediabetes may also present the same symptoms, it only indicates that diabetes may be on the way.

Excessive thirst

Frequent trips to bathroom

Fatigue

Nausea

Weight loss

Blurred vision

Numbness in hands and foot

It is extremely important that if you suspect you or your child to have symptoms of diabetes, that you visit your doctor to be tested. If the tests are positive it is not

the end of the world. With careful monitoring and care, type 1 diabetics can live long healthy lives.

If you believe your child may be experiencing these symptoms you should schedule them for a thorough examination and tell your doctor what you suspect your child may have. Be sure to tell them about any and all symptoms your child may be experiencing

Each of these symptoms will often be seen at the same time as other diabetic symptoms. It is possible, though, that only one or two of these may appear at a single time. This makes a trip to the doctor that much more important

if any of these are evident. Simple blood tests are most likely all that will be needed to detect either prediabetes or diabetes.

Without careful monitoring and treatment, complications from diabetes could include loss of limps such as arms, legs and feet, blindness and diabetic comas, which can be fatal

Can Proper Diet Help Control Diabetes?

There are a number of factors concerning diabetes, and the main one may be where you are now in relation to diabetes? If you are in an early stage, and if your doctor believes that you can willingly control your diet, then you may be able to control your diabetes without drugs.

You are not alone if you have just been diagnosed with diabetes.
No one, of course, welcomes that news. The good news is that you can control diabetes for a long time, and possibly even remove its potentially harmful effects by acting immediately.

A piece of good news, however, is that if an overweight individual is diagnosed with pre-diabetes, then he or she could reduce that risk simply by losing the excess weight. This also shows that there is a direct correlation between the two. Diabetes can often be pushed back a number of years simply by doing this. In some cases, it may even be able to be completely avoided. It usually takes losing about 7% of your body weight on average, to have this effect. Some may require more, but any weight loss for an overweight person is a move toward better health in the long run.

Once you have created your diet plan, and have calculated in the right amount of calories, you will need to stick to the plan. The reason for this is to regulate your blood sugar levels and keep them as even as possible. This means that it will be important for you to eat everything on your plan at each mean and at the snack times, too. The thing that you do not want is to have your blood sugar levels get too high or too low. Remember that both could be harmful.

Diabetes is not something to play with, but rather something to defeat before it ever comes. Getting started right away can help you avoid the problems that are associated with diabetes.
